A Spyder from Porsche - The 918
Posted on | August 9, 2010 | No Comments
Normally the term “Spyder” is associated with either Alfa Romeo or Ferrari as both manufacturers have such models in their range of cars. Well the industry is in for a bit of a shake up and it is coming from a rather unlikely source, Porsche! As recently as July 2010, information was leaked online in relation to the new Porsche 918 Sypder car that was rumoured to be in the works; the same information that has since been confirmed by Porsche themselves. After an enormous and overwhelming response to the cars’ design, look and feel, Porsche seem to have given in to the demand and ordered the manufacture and production of the unit with immediate effect. The 918 Spyder is a combination of Porsche’s ultimate driving performance that coincides with plug-in hybrid technology and is sure to be a big hit withal automotive enthusiasts. Reports suggest that the vehicle will be put together in Germany (Porsche’s home base) and will be a true supercar. Specific specifications and features are as of yet rather sketchy, but it is believed that the car will have a 3 litre engine, which will produce as little as 70g/km Co2 emissions. For those that have been lucky enough to see the released images of the vehicle, it is quite abundantly clear how visually stunning it really is. Too be honest, from a personal point of view and in my opinion, I can already regard it as THE most stunning unit of 2010 and it is definitely one that is going to become the new flagship vehicle of the new and used Porsche industries.
Peugeot RCZ - The New Car in Town
Posted on | August 9, 2010 | No Comments
Earlier this year Peugeot introduced their latest model, the RCZ, which was part of a rather aggressive TV and online marketing campaign. And seemingly this worked rather well because since its introduction, Peugeot have been inundated with test drive and booking requests. The overall style of the vehicle is very much out of the ordinary for Peugeot and if you were to compare it to the used Peugeot models of recent years, it is very much an indifferent look. It is as if the Peugeot designers were given a free reign and told to conjure up something that would stand out and be noticed. The RCZ is a compact Coupe with an eloquent style that sparkles in its standard black colour. In fact, you could go as far to say that the Peugeot RCZ is a sport coupe with a twist that doesn’t actually belong to any set class – it really is that unique. And as for the cars’ performance, Peugeot have certainly not disappointed us in this area as the RCZ delivers a fashionable driving experience. Thanks to its three engine options, buyers are given the choice of balancing power with fuel prices; perfect for targeting different sets of economy worshippers. And with up to 200 BHP available from the top of the range engine, it surely comes as no surprise to know that the Peugeot RCZ is currently becoming quite the popular vehicle in and around town and will soon enter into the mainstream used Peugeot markets.
The MINI Cooper D - Providing Engine Flexibility
Posted on | August 9, 2010 | No Comments
When BMW introduced the new updated version of the old used Mini, the new design truly was a sight to behold. It was fresh, innovative and a welcomed addition to the industry. Performance was something that was vastly improved and this was one of the main reasons for the enhanced reputation of the MINI Cooper. Then, like with anything else, engineers were able to improve on all of the initial elements of the car and one of the most noteworthy points was the engine, which was made available as a Diesel. The official model name is the MINI Cooper D and it comes with a fully variable valve timing engine that delivers a good performance. To summarise, the Cooper D is equipped with a four cylinder, 1.6 litre 16v engine that achieves 0 to 60 mph in less than 10 seconds. Its top speed is 122 miles per hour and, the fact that it was a Diesel, meant that emissions were reduced. Accompanying this new style of engine is a six speed gearbox that was setup to promote even smoother gear changing. Such features enabled the vehicle to become very popular with drivers and enthusiasts alike. The same sporty design, look and feel was still all there with the Cooper D, but it was the more economic engine that would once again open the debate regarding what is the best fuel type; petrol or diesel?! It is fair to say then that with all of the above in place, things have certainly moved on from the 1960’s used Mini!
Upgrades Galore - The Mazda 6

As the official Mazda Website describes it “if all you want from your car is to get from A to B, then the upgraded Mazda 6 is not for you. This car is for those with an unashamed passion for driving”. So that is straight from the horses’ mouth; the Mazda 6 is not for the fainthearted! And quite rightly so because this is a car that offers a truly unique design that is backed up with a performance, which can rival most others in its class. The older used Mazda 6 still remains a feasible option but the new and more advanced model offers much more including a new 2.2 litre Diesel engine that is offered in a number of different power derivatives. There is something a little bit different about the A-Class and it seems that Mercedes, like many other car manufacturers, are branching out and introducing cars of the “now” into their range. Of course, public opinion and consumer choice is an ever changing cycle and so manufacturers have the task of keeping up to date with what is in and what is out. The new and used Mercedes A-Class is very much a step to the future as it ticks many boxes that comply with the road standards of today. Read more
The Indifferent Mazda RX-8

Every now and then there are certain cars that come into the market that quite literally just stand out from the rest. These cars often contain something visually indifferent and this is usually in the form of the exterior; perhaps a bigger sized spoiler or different coloured neon lights etc. However, in the case of the Mazda RX-8, this is a car that came into the market offering much more than just an updated outer shell. Sure it did offer some new innovations such as the 2-way door opening system and it was also visually stunning. However, it was underneath the bonnet where the real magic came into being as the RX-8 included the infamous rotary engine that Mazda were universally renowned for creating. Of course, the RX-8 wasn’t the only Mazda car to have this in place (the used Mazda RX-2, RX-3, RX-4 and RX-5 all incorporated this feature), but it was the RX-8 that really made people sit up and take notice of this truly fantastic piece of engine engineering. Much of this success was attributed to the fact that Mazda had indeed entered into a gimmicky marketing campaign that incorporated the used of the now universal “Zoom-Zoom” slogan, which immediately became associated with new and used Mazda vehicles. The cars’ top speed was pegged at roughly 150 mph and it was able to achieve 0 to 60 mph in around six seconds; making it an adventurous auto for one that included only a 1.3 litre engine! Of course with the rotary engine this meant that the equivalent was more like a 2.6 litre engine but let’s not spoil the fun! One negative that drivers do speak of, however, is that the used Mazda RX-8 is a bit of a fuel guzzler. And so with petrol prices seemingly increasing by the day, it is worth taking into consideration. Removing this disadvantage for a moment, the RX-8 is highly regarded by many and makes for an excellent choice when buying a used Mazda.
MINI – The New Style of Mini
Posted on | June 7, 2010 | No Comments
The time of the 1960’s and The Italian Job and Austin Powers movies no doubt spring to mind when thinking of a used Mini. And all of these would be accurate; the 60’s was a time of parties, raves and the iconic Mini, and the vehicle did make appearances in both of the aforementioned Hollywood on screen hits. However, as time moved on the brand of MINI went through some drastic changes; none more so than when BMW, the iconic German car manufacturer, purchased the rights to the MINI brand name and created their very own version of this truly wonderful vehicle. This time around though, the new style MINI was very much an updated version of the previously iconic used Mini from years gone by. With a clearly evident new exterior styling and much more powerful engines installed, the new MINI was a sight to behold and marked a tremendous improvement on the previous generations. In all honesty though, did anyone expect anything less when the news come that BMW wished to undertake the reinvention? As mentioned previously, this was an iconic German car manufacturer wanting to take what is perhaps the most loved vehicle in UK automotive history, and transfer it into a modern day challenger to the throne of super mini! And when the introduction of the new design came into place, it certainly did not disappoint as it took the market by storm. As things progressed and the popularity of the new and used MINI markets started to grow, BMW introduced new models such as the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S; with the latter being the sportiest version in the range of cars. Both took to the market like a duck with water and this propelled the new brand of BMW MINI to similar heights to that of the 1960’s Mini. More recently, the MINI Clubman, a five door Mini (!) has been introduced and, once again, British consumers have reacted with positive feedback.
Smart Cars – The Smarter Way to Drive
Posted on | June 2, 2010 | No Comments
What an invention the Smart car has become. Backed by Mercedes-Benz, it is no wonder that the conventional Smart car has gone on to rejuvenate the art of driving. So what makes both new and used Smart cars so unique? Well first of all there is the most obvious point and that is the size of the vehicle. It is described as being a car that can occupy half a parking space and, if parked horizontally; two Smart cars could be situated side by side. Therefore, this is the most obvious feature why Smart cars are so different to other, more regular, cars. Read more

Van Window Tinting
Posted on | September 1, 2009 | No Comments
So why do people get have their van windows tinted? Well for starters it provides a bit more privacy and also acts as a security feature against thieves. For example, certain used vans due to the nature of what they are used for often carry expensive equipment such as power tools. Due to them being worth a lot of money, should the van have tinted windows, passers-by are less likely to notice them in the vehicle. Now most people either remove valuable items from the van altogether or lock them up in the back of the van but sometimes, through no fault of their own, people do forget and so having window tints could prove to be a little life saver during these forgetful moments. What a thief cannot see – he/she cannot steal. Read more
