A Spyder from Porsche - The 918
Posted on | August 9, 2010 |
Normally the term “Spyder” is associated with either Alfa Romeo or Ferrari as both manufacturers have such models in their range of cars. Well the industry is in for a bit of a shake up and it is coming from a rather unlikely source, Porsche! As recently as July 2010, information was leaked online in relation to the new Porsche 918 Sypder car that was rumoured to be in the works; the same information that has since been confirmed by Porsche themselves. After an enormous and overwhelming response to the cars’ design, look and feel, Porsche seem to have given in to the demand and ordered the manufacture and production of the unit with immediate effect. The 918 Spyder is a combination of Porsche’s ultimate driving performance that coincides with plug-in hybrid technology and is sure to be a big hit withal automotive enthusiasts. Reports suggest that the vehicle will be put together in Germany (Porsche’s home base) and will be a true supercar. Specific specifications and features are as of yet rather sketchy, but it is believed that the car will have a 3 litre engine, which will produce as little as 70g/km Co2 emissions. For those that have been lucky enough to see the released images of the vehicle, it is quite abundantly clear how visually stunning it really is. Too be honest, from a personal point of view and in my opinion, I can already regard it as THE most stunning unit of 2010 and it is definitely one that is going to become the new flagship vehicle of the new and used Porsche industries.
