MINI – The New Style of Mini
Posted on | June 7, 2010 |
The time of the 1960’s and The Italian Job and Austin Powers movies no doubt spring to mind when thinking of a used Mini. And all of these would be accurate; the 60’s was a time of parties, raves and the iconic Mini, and the vehicle did make appearances in both of the aforementioned Hollywood on screen hits. However, as time moved on the brand of MINI went through some drastic changes; none more so than when BMW, the iconic German car manufacturer, purchased the rights to the MINI brand name and created their very own version of this truly wonderful vehicle. This time around though, the new style MINI was very much an updated version of the previously iconic used Mini from years gone by. With a clearly evident new exterior styling and much more powerful engines installed, the new MINI was a sight to behold and marked a tremendous improvement on the previous generations. In all honesty though, did anyone expect anything less when the news come that BMW wished to undertake the reinvention? As mentioned previously, this was an iconic German car manufacturer wanting to take what is perhaps the most loved vehicle in UK automotive history, and transfer it into a modern day challenger to the throne of super mini! And when the introduction of the new design came into place, it certainly did not disappoint as it took the market by storm. As things progressed and the popularity of the new and used MINI markets started to grow, BMW introduced new models such as the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S; with the latter being the sportiest version in the range of cars. Both took to the market like a duck with water and this propelled the new brand of BMW MINI to similar heights to that of the 1960’s Mini. More recently, the MINI Clubman, a five door Mini (!) has been introduced and, once again, British consumers have reacted with positive feedback.
