Smart Cars – The Smarter Way to Drive
Posted on | June 2, 2010 |
What an invention the Smart car has become. Backed by Mercedes-Benz, it is no wonder that the conventional Smart car has gone on to rejuvenate the art of driving. So what makes both new and used Smart cars so unique? Well first of all there is the most obvious point and that is the size of the vehicle. It is described as being a car that can occupy half a parking space and, if parked horizontally; two Smart cars could be situated side by side. Therefore, this is the most obvious feature why Smart cars are so different to other, more regular, cars. Then there is the engine and the Co2 emissions that have been specifically engineered with the environment in mind. When the time of global warming became public reality, car makers were challenged with the task of producing more economic and environmentally friendly vehicles. Smart cars were the first to incorporate such features into the mainstream and the used Smart cars from 1996 were very much the benchmark for success. Since then, these used Smart cars have been improved even further thanks to the simple fact of engineering evolution and the current cars in the Smart range are now even more eco-friendly and are therefore still very much the leaders in the marketplace. Being part of such a huge corporation such as Mercedes-Benz just highlights the fact of how a new vehicle can be marketed and sold to the general public – if it has the right partner. Therefore the success of new and used Smart Cars can be widely attributed to this fact. Also, there has been a huge change in buyer choice and more and more drivers now consider the environment and Co2 emission levels when purchasing a new vehicle. Smart cars have certainly redefined the art of auto making and, in years to come, will be recognised as having played a vital role for the health of the environment.
